Subscriptions and Bills Tracker

By Jason Su · Updated September 18, 2026

Recurring charges are the quietest part of anyone’s finances. They keep leaving the account after you stop using the service, and they keep leaving it after you are gone. This sheet lists them once, so both you and your family can see what is actually being paid each month.

Why this is worth twenty minutes

  • You will find something you forgot. Almost everyone does — a streaming trial that became a subscription, a storage unit, an app from three years ago.
  • Your family cannot cancel what they cannot see. Nobody is going to audit your bank statements while grieving.
  • It is the easiest savings in the whole binder. Cancelling two forgotten subscriptions usually pays for a year of a domain name several times over.

The sheet

How to use it

  1. Work from your last three bank and card statements. Not from memory — the whole point is finding what memory has dropped.
  2. Write “cancel how” for each one. Some are cancelled in the app, some need a phone call, some need an email. That note saves your family hours.
  3. List the ones to keep. Insurance and utilities must keep running. Mark them clearly so a well-meaning relative does not stop them.
  4. Do a sweep every six months. Subscriptions multiply quietly.

Frequently asked

Should I cancel subscriptions now, or just list them?

Cancel the ones you no longer want as you go — this sheet makes that obvious. Just list the rest, especially anything with a cancellation fee or a contract term.

How do I find subscriptions I have forgotten about?

Search your email for words like “receipt”, “your subscription”, and “renewal”. Merchants email before every charge, so the emails are already in your inbox.

What about services only I use, like a hobby site?

Write them down anyway, and note that they can be cancelled. Your family does not need to keep paying for your interests — but they do need to know the charges exist so they are not mistaken for fraud.

Is it worth putting the login for each service here?

No. Note where the login is stored instead — that is what the Password Log Sheet is for.

Next step

Print the Password Log Sheet so the cancellation logins are findable, then keep both sheets with the Master Checklist. The free Checklist Builder produces a cover page that says where all of it lives.
